May 27, 1997: Denver, Colorado

I went to the Souls/BUSH concert on Tuesday 5/27. I have to say the whole concert was incredible. I had just recently become a Souls fan because they were going to be touring with BUSH, and once I heard their songs I absolutely loved them. I was so excited, not only was I going to see BUSH but I was so excited to see the Souls live! They were even better then I expected. This was their first concert with BUSH and my first time seeing them. They were so good. Even BUSH came out on the side of the stage to watch the show. They played Sonic Sorehead, Toxic, Expensive, Shuffle, a song I don't know (sorry, still waiting for my CD), Cello, and Fuckmonkey. All the songs were great, even better live. They all have such a great stage presence and Cecilia was very energetic and put on a great show. Unfortunately not many people knew them, but I was cheering and yelling and singing the whole time. It was great. I can't wait to see them again!

May 30, 1997: El Paso, Texas

On May 30th I saw Souls perform in El Paso, TX w/ Veruca Salt and Bush. To my surprise Souls was great in concert. I had never heard their music before so I didn't know if they were going to suck or what. They only played for about 30 min or so but it was really good. I was right in front of the mosh pit and Cecilia threw water all over me. The only song I can distinctly remember them playing from looking at the lyrics is fuckmonkey. I thought it was really cool. I think you'll really like seeing Souls in concert on the 27/28 of June...

The Souls opned for Bush here in San Diego today.....they kick ass...Cecelia's one of the best screamers out there and i am always excited to see them play (this makes it my 6th souls show) Unfortunately the crowd of hormone ingested teeny-bop "Gavin lovers" did not agree....It sucked...I was the only Souls fan there with Souls written in blood red ink all over my arms and body and Cecelia acknowledged it and smiled and it was like I had my own private perfromance, for I was the ONLY one standing up front (it was open seating at a grassy beach side park) and the only one jumping up and down getting into it...the kiddies tossed all sorts of crap at her like bottles, food, paper, and yelled for her to get off the stage....But there I was screaming my heart out for Souls and I really think Cecelia appreciated it because I got all the smiling grins and a thumbs up.......The set list included....

It's an awful shame that people do not appreciate fantastic music like the Souls as opposed to all the other radio friendly crap......

I saw them down in San Diego. I went down to see Veruca Salt but was pleasantly surprised by this band that I had never heard of. Too bad she got a shitty audience. She was a real performer but she was playing for a twelve year old, top forty, trendy crowd. They were all waiting for Bush to play so they didn't appreciate what a treat it was to see this new band. The crowd just stared at her waiting for them to finish. They played a song that I don't think has been released call I Spy. She had hard hitting yells that were as exciting as the band Drill, but a playful-like attitude of No Doubt. Overall I give them high marks and will probably kick myself later for not knowing about them sooner. I am going to catch them again in Reno, this time a little more prepared.

I had never been to hospitality point so I didn't really know what to expect. Turns out it was really great becuase there was just a stage and then grass-you could practically get anywhere you wanted to-the souls where good but no one really got into it-the singer was a cutie though-she said she wanted "to take pictures and send them to my daddy" in a really cool swedish accent so she photographed the audience-the bassist took pictures at the end to-they seemed really excited to be there-sort of like they where the fans or something-at one part her guitar was not working or something so after she handed it to the rodie she just played air guitar-- it was cute

Reno is a crappy place to live because there's no real entertainment. Nobody tours here because Lawlor Events Center is horrible to hold a concert. So when somebody is brave enough to come here they are greeted by an attention starved crowd. They were mostly Bush fans but they were so receptive to Souls. It was an excited crowd, and then you throw in Ceclia's sexually frustrated yells, innocent looking pouts, and the entire band's hard hitting sounds, you get an awesome show. Poor Ceclia looked worn down from the tour. She didn't seem to be having as much fun as in San Diego, but she did manage a five minute masturbation exhibition during fuckmonkey (clothes on for the twelve year olds). She wore shiny sequined pants and a black t-shirt. I brought my girlfriend to the show who listens to country and had never been to a "real" concert. She loved them and bought their CD. To anyone who is checking this out, buy their CD, it really hits hard.

I went to the June 17th show in Seattle. I must admit, I had never heard of Souls before... in fact I only thought Veruca Salt was going to open for Bush, but Souls came out and rocked before Veruca Salt, and it was awesome! I don't think many people knew who Souls were (and I was one of them), since they recieved a sort of quiet greeting (well, compared to Veruca Salt and Bush, that is). Once they started rocking, so did the crowd! Everyone was jam packed up towards the stage, crowd-surfing big-time and moshing... I could tell Souls were accepted, and everyone was having a blast! Cecilia sure can scream... and it sounded harshly good! They were pretty heavy, and they had a harsh/pounding sound. She talked some to the crowd, but unfortunately, I couldn't make out what she said, except "Thank you Seattle, thank you!" ... I could tell they were a foreign band, and that unique sound was awesome! A lot of clothes were being thrown up on the stage (not out of hatred though!), and a t-shirt landed on the guitar of the bass player... he just yanked it off, and continued to jam. They played around 6 songs, and were up there for about 30 minutes. They received a loud goodbye, and everyone seemed like they had a good time while they were on stage... I sure did! Hopefully they'll get a good fan-base, because they deserve one!

I saw the Souls open for Bush at the Key Arena in Seattle, on June 17, 1997. I had recently heard them on a local radio station (107.7 The End), and couldn't get the song "Cello" out of my head. I was excited to see them live, as well as Veruca Salt and Bush. My friends and I were front row and center stage against the railing separating the crowd from the band. After their upbeat-energetic show (which included Cecilia sticking her hand down her pants) she threw me her guitar pick! (I almost got mugged for it by like every guy up front, I just figured I'd wash it off, but to them it meant more!) The concert was one of the best I've ever been to, and I hope the Souls will get regular radio play and rotation on MTV. Because they totally deserve it!

July 6, 1997: Boston, Massachusetts

I am a HUGE Bush fan, so I went to see them on July 6. My best friend writes from Extreme magazine, so she had gotten the Souls latest album to review. I listened to it a bit at her house, and thought it was really great. She was supposed to interview Souls, but never got a chance to get down there. So anyways, we had KICK ASS seats (thanks to the wonderful Mr. Pulsford), so we were cheering them on, and screaming really loud. We were practically the only people too! =) They were awesome live! The first thing Cecilia said was "Hi, we're Souls, and we're from Sweden." They kept doing cute things. Like the drummer took a couple pictures of the audience, and Cecilia was goofing around with his chair. She did a little flip around it, then let the guitarist sit in it, then she brought it over to the bassist and said "sit!" Speaking of the bassist, he was wearing really thick soled shoes, so at one point, he put a foot up on one of the amps to show them off! =) In the end, he went to the very front of the stage, and just sort of stood there. Cecilia dedicated one of the songs to the girls in the audience (don't remember which song), and one of them to the people with lawn seats. When Jesus Lizard came on, I was talking to Kate (my best friend), when our other friend told us to look behind us -- it was CECILIA!! She said hi, and told us to stand up, which we did. We started drawing quite a bit of attention to her, cos a- we were the only 3 people standing, and b- we were freaking out. I was like "You ROCK!!" She told us to look at the stage a couple times, but then she had to leave, so she said bye and kinda rushed off. Then backstage during the aftershow, I saw the bassist walk accross the room twice, but he didn't stay. Then I saw Cecila! I went up to her and said, "You kick so much ass!!" and she said, "Well thank you!" When I mentioned how she came up to us, she said, "Yeah, I wanted you guys to get up and dance!!" then she told us to look on stage cos she was getting too much attention. She signed a big piece of blank paper for me (ooooh, paper! I know, but it was the only non-Bush thing I had). She put: TO KASIA and drew a little person's head, then signed her name next to it. Then we hugged! (aww, how cute!) Later I told her that I loved her shoes, and she said thank you, and told me that she's really short without them, and kinda crouched down to show me! =) She has a pretty heavy accent, but it's pretty. I wouldn't say that that beat being with Bush, but it was pretty damn awesome!!!!
